This is a question of survival: the survival of our planet and of our species. Think about it. In less than 12 years there will be 9 billion humans on this planet. The pressure on resources of all kinds will increase exponentially. What should our response be? Clearly, we have to do something in our own interests and those of our children and succeeding generations.
Most of the world’s environmental problems have been caused by humans. We can rectify many of these challenges by taking a different approach. Instead of producing ever-increasing amounts of waste that typify the existing linear economic model, we have the capabilities and the opportunity to create goods and services which produce materials for recycling. That is the definition of the circular economy: a virtuous cycle rather than a vicious one.
