Employers and businesses in Singapore have been supporting National Service (NS) and National Servicemen since the introduction of NS in 1967. Employers and businesses continue to play this important role today. The prestigious national-level Total Defence Awards (TDA), first launched in 1986, honours businesses that have established support for NS and Total Defence (TD) as an integral part of their business practices.
The NS Mark (Gold) is a national-level accreditation scheme that recognises businesses that have implemented policies and human resource practices that support NS and TD. The NS Mark (Gold) is the gate to the annual TDA.
