Synopsis

The UL presenters, Miss Lee Chen Chen, Program Manager/Regional Lead Reviewer and Mr Damien Ong, Lead Test Engineer/EMC Lead/L3 Reviewer would introduce the audience to electrical safety standard of IEC 60601-1-11 with its structure and global requirements for home healthcare medical devices.  Focus on electrical safety protection for these medical devices. With awareness of protection against the electrical hazards, the improved safety for medical devices is applied regardless of whether the medical electrical equipment or medical electrical system is intended for use by a lay operator or by trained healthcare personnel.

Interpret safety standards for electrical home healthcare medical device
    -  IEC 60601-1 standard structure
    -  Global harmonization
Complete contents of IEC 60601-1 and equipment classification
Introduction of  the general philosophy  with IEC  606601, Hazard safety engineering, HBSE concept and generic acceptable  risk level
Determine  the applicable medical equipment requirements, such as creepage, clearance and dielectric strength requirements, technical considerations  for critical components to achieve safety compliance goals
Introduction  of  standard  for  home healthcare device, IEC 60601-1-11 & related usability requirement  IEC 60601-1-6 & IEC 62366   
Introduction of IEC 60601-1-2 medical electrical equipment EMC CB scheme
